Creating green spaces
Open space and landscaping will form an important part of the proposed development, providing an opportunity to create attractive green spaces alongside the new homes.
The emerging masterplan includes substantial areas of green space, together with opportunities for children's play, new planting and ecological enhancements.
The landscape strategy will be developed alongside the masterplan and will consider how the development relates to the existing village and surrounding countryside. Existing landscape features will help influence the layout, with opportunities explored to retain and strengthen existing vegetation, trees and landscape boundaries wherever appropriate.
Areas constrained by flood risk will remain free from built development and could form part of the wider green infrastructure network, incorporating open space, landscaping, biodiversity enhancements and sustainable drainage features.
Ecology and biodiversity
Ecological surveys are ongoing to understand the habitats and species currently present on and around the site.
The findings of these surveys will help shape the developing masterplan and identify any measures required to protect important ecological features and habitats.
The proposals will also seek opportunities to enhance biodiversity through the creation and improvement of habitats, new planting and the appropriate long-term management of green spaces. This will help create a connected network of green infrastructure across the development, benefiting both wildlife and future residents.
Future environmental work
As the proposals progress, the project team will undertake the ecological, arboricultural, landscape and other environmental assessments required to inform the design and support any future planning application.
This technical work will continue to influence the emerging masterplan, ensuring that environmental considerations are taken into account as the proposals develop. Further details will be provided as this work progresses.
What happens next?
Following consultation, we will review all the feedback received alongside the continuing technical work. Where appropriate, the emerging masterplan will then be amended before the proposals progress towards a planning application.
